The Irish teams had a fabulous East Coast Championship last weekend, and are all tuned up for Abersoch – their aim is to, as in 2011, win everything going.
Abersoch’s fleet will be looking to spoil the Irish plan; Nick Whip (4th in Japan hosted J24 worlds) has chartered ‘Bear’, Mike Budd (Champion in just about everything) on the fabulous ‘Harry’, Jamie Peters on the ultra successful (ex Ruairidh Bowman) ‘Yeah Baby’.
So what? Well, it’s up to the Southern teams to show everyone who is boss. Laurie Smith has confirmed he plans to spoil the party teaming with Andrew Winkleman, Rob Campbell knows how to sail – he’s up for it as is Simon Barter, and no Edinburgh Cup would or could be complete without Gavia teaming up with Mark Hart, let’s throw in Tim Tav on Tigger for good measure.
South Caernarfonshire Yacht Club’s PRO Malcolm Blackburn expects up to fifty teams – he’s looking forward to racing us all until our arm/legs/heads drop off.
What does Rob Riddell, Abersoch class captain think of it all? “Heads down boys and girls – looks like it’s going to be a heart stopper! There must be a dozen teams with the experience and expertise capable of winning this one………to win it you’ve got to be in it…………enter today – book online or simply call Jude at SCYC 0044 (0)1758 613266, she’ll hold your hand as you register!
